"As overtaking is nigh-on impossible in Valencia, anyone trying to pass will have to aim to undercut their rivals at the pit stops. But that's not easy as the person in front will be able to stop sooner, because the timing of the first stop will be defined by when the cars can stop and clear the lower midfield runners such as the Toro Rossos and Heikki Kovalainen's Caterham. The 'soft' is about half a second faster than the 'medium'. Although the medium degrades less, it only becomes quicker after about 30-odd laps, although different teams view it differently - some say the soft is the best race tyre, some the medium. It is expected to be a two-stop race with some doing three stops and some possibly trying to eke it out to a one. Expect the first stops around lap 12 (three-stop) to 14 (two-stop) to 20 (one stop).
