The latest on McLaren

McLaren spent the lunch break making set up changes to the MP4-31 before sending Fernando Alonso out for a few laps of aero work.

They are now preparing the car in the garage for a race simulation this afternoon, which if they complete, will be their first of the winter. The last one they attempted lasted just three laps with Button last week.

We're also told by the team that they might bring out the ultrasofts for the first time this winter. So that certainly could be worth a watch to see what kind of time Alonso can post.

If McLaren are still planning on heading out on the ultrasofts today, the track temperature is dropping dramatically as the sun disappears behind a couple of clouds. It's down to under 24c now. Air temperature is 17c. And in those temperatures the tyre may simply not switch on.
