Being slower on entry, apex, and exit doesn’t just cost time on the straight, significant time is also lost within the corner itself. It’s in the low to medium speed corners where Alonso is losing the most to Verstappen, a total of approximately 1s. McLaren clearly have work to do in this area by improving their chassis and getting the most out of the tyres, and when they do the gains will be significant because they will no longer lose out on the straights relative to Red Bull, i.e. it’s a potential 1.5s gain.
