McLaren are the latest team to have been mentioned as a possible destination for Nico Hulkenberg, according to a report.
The German is set to leave Sauber at the end of this season after just one year at Hinwil, but the name of his next team remains unclear following Ferrari's decision to re-sign Kimi Raikkonen.
Many believe he is now the front-runner to replace Raikkonen at Lotus next year, however, Germany's Sport Bild claims McLaren have also entered the picture.
The Woking squad are yet to confirm either Jenson Button and Sergio Perez as their drivers for 2014 and it is believed that the latter's sponsor Telmex is yet to pay the team, leaving the door ajar for Hulkenberg.
Lotus, on the other hand, are in negotiations with Arab investors and if they secure a deal then it would put Felipe Massa out of the picture at Enstone as they wouldn't need his sponsorship money.
Meanwhile, Hulkenberg's manager Werner Heinz says they hold all the cards.
"Nothing is signed," Heinz told Sport Bild. "But we are in a good position."
