De la entrevista a Pat Symons....resulta interesante:

- Nueva 'unidad propulsora'

- The team received the first CAD (Computer-Aided Design) data for the power unit at the end of May, at which point the detailed design of the FW36 could begin to be finalised.

Hasta finales de Mayo de 2013 el equipo no recibió la info del motor Mercedes....primero tuvieron que diseñar el coche sobre un motor ficticio...Se entiende ahora la 'ventaja' de ser motorista,no?. Mercedes y Ferrari pudieron diseñar el coche en PARALELO con el motor. Aspecto muy muy importante.

- The design phase of the FW36 was completed by mid-September, by which time the team had found solutions to the major challenges presented by the regulations. Cooling, weight, a new gearbox and aerodynamic changes are just some of the areas of focus.

Para finales de Septiembre completaron la fase de diseño, solucionando refrigración, peso, nueva caja de cambios y cambios aeros....wow. en 4 meses de trabajo.

- “Overall the cars will need more cooling this year,”

Más refrigeración para los monoplazas de 2014.

- The FW36’s gearbox ran on the dyno for the first time at the beginning of November, before running with the full power unit several weeks later. It’s the first eight-speed gearbox in Williams’ history.

A primeros de Noviembre pusieron en el banco de pruebas la nueva caja de cambios.

-The launch-spec aerodynamic package that you see here was finalised in the first week of December, with an upgrade package for Melbourne’s season-opener signed off in early January.

El paquete aero de la presentación se terminó la 1ª semana de diciembre, ya están trabajando en la 1ª evo para Melbourne. Increíble los plazos que manejan los equipos.

- we’ve also lost the ability to use the exhaust to enhance aero performance.”

Hemos perdido la capacidad de usar los escapes para aumentar el rendimiento aerodinámico....la clave. Como tener un coche EQUILIBRADO sin los escapes coanda...

Interesante, vamos a ver cómo tiran los RB para ver si el soplado les ayudaba tanto o era el control de tracción encubierto con los mapas motor (y del turbo ahora), o ambos.
