Amid great speculation that Luca Montezemolo would be stepping down from his role with the Scuderia, the Ferrari boss turned up to wave at half-empty grandstands and walk through a media scrum. Fernando Alonso scored P7 and Kimi Raikkonen a disappointing P12. Fernando was the fastest non-Mercedes runner; ahead of him were two Mercedes, two Williams and two McLarens. "Everybody on the grid with a team-mate on their shoulder," he grinned, "and me not, so I think I have put in something extra."
